Rekindling Our Congregations (ROC)

In April 2012, our Gamaliel National Clergy Caucus challenged the network to adopt a 3-year campaign under the Fire of Faith banner to Rekindle Our Congregations (ROC) to create a “ROC” of congregations of multiple faiths and traditions upon which we will build stronger organizations and a stronger network.  Each ROC will join a Cohort through this process ( a cohort is a group of people who have shared a particular event together during a particular time span.)

Wanting to allow room for creative developments and have a way to define success and allocate resources for maximum results in this campaign, a group of leaders and organizers has developed the following definition for ROC –

The purpose of Congregational Based Organizing is to identify and develop lay leadership resulting in a cohesive and active congregation whose goals are to fully proclaim their faith in the public sphere, increase church membership and long term sustainability.  Organizers will work with congregational leaders to make organizing an integral part
